The fact that this magnificient creature was killed by a ship is tragic, yet all reports gloss over this detail. The reports act as though this whales' death was a happy coincidence. How old was this whale when it was killed? What is the whales' normal life expectancy? Unfortunately we do not give the proper respect to the animals that live in the ocean and we allow ship traffic, sonar, and fishing practices to destroy the ocean life as well as the oceans. These practices arise out of a narcissistic sense of entitlement which we, as a species, need to overcome so that we can preserve our oceans.
